In the Special Education Program (SEP) at Leichhardt State School, we recognise that our students who have disabilities are individuals with different abilities and we like to focus on these. Students who are supported by our Special Education Program at Leichhardt State School have worked with staff to set their own goals and strived to achieve them. They have joined classrooms with their peers and enjoyed learning and playing with and from them. Many students have used their special interests and talents to demonstrate their learning and have then gone on to teach others and share their skills. Some of our students' creations and activities will be on display at our school Open Day.
Our students are supported inclusively at Leichhardt State School. Case Mangers, subject area Teachers, Teacher Aides and the HOSES work and plan together to create learning spaces that cater to the varying needs of our students. We understand that every student is unique and in response to this, staff develop learning activities and provide individualised support to students to ensure that every student is able to access the curriculum and participate in learning with their same age peers.
